The UK Time Higher Education (THE) reported the 2016 ranking result of top-200 Asian universities on June 21.

The UK Time Higher Education (THE) reported the 2016 ranking result of the top-200 Asian universities on June 21. Among the private universities in the THE list, Asia University (AU)(Asia University, Taiwan) is the No. 5 best in Taiwan while her sister school, China Medical University (CMU), is No.1. Specifically, CMU is ranked No. 46 in the top-200 list while AU is ranked in the No. 131-140 group. The THE Rankings Report is a famous ranking result in the university circle.

AU Dean of R&D, Professor Chih-Yang Huang, said that the THE ranking of the best Asian universities is extended to include 200 schools this year, compared with the list of 100 ones of last year. The rankings are based on thirteen indexes of achievements of the evaluated universities, falling into major categories --- teaching, research, employer satisfaction, and internationalization. In the 2016 THE report, 24 universities in Taiwan enter the list of the top 200 universities in Asia. Being just 15 years old, AU is the youngest top-200 university all over Asia! “This means that AU is a very good university, comparable with most senior national schools in Taiwan,” said Dean Huang.

AU President Jing-Pha Tsai pointed out that AU and CMU have allied to form a so-called China Asia Associated University (“CA2”) four years ago, aiming to cooperate in teaching and research as well as to share various resources of the two universities. “Entering one school can enjoy additionally utilization of the facilities of the other,” said President Tsai, “and this is good to students of both universities.”

It is worth mention that in the THE report of world university ranking of the last year, AU is the 670th best in the world, and the 17th best in Taiwan. If only private schools are considered, AU is the 7th best in Taiwan. Being the youngest university in Taiwan and only 15 years old, AU has really good achievements, as said by President Tsai.

AU president Tsai also mentioned that heading to the 15th year of school establishment, AU has been evaluated to be one of the teaching excellence universities by the Ministry of Education (MOE) for 11 straight years. In addition, AU has been ranked by the UK THE reports in recent three years to be in the lists of four differently-evaluated top universities in the world, becoming a university with “four top-100’s” honors. “The efforts and the progress made by AU are remarkable,” said President Tsai.
